Bomarea caldasii is best described as a climbing Alstroemeria. It needs similar treatment with rich well drained compost and occasional liquid feed throughout the growing season.
Hoyas flower over a long period throughout the summer and autumn often from the same point they flowered last year. Keep looking for mealy bug and brown scale.
Lapagerias prefer cool shaded conditions in a most atmosphere. They require ericaceous compost but hate artificial fertiliser, preferring an organic feed.
Plumbago auriculata makes rampant growth in the summer and should be kept well fed and watered. They are more likely to get attacks of brown scale and aphids if they get too dry or starved. Remove flowered growths and new flowering shoots should develop.
Gloriosa superba ‘Rothschildiana’ – this climbing lily has long tuberous roots which need plants in a long deep pot with the crown just beneath the surface.
Gardenias should continually flower throughout the summer but need to be kept moist and fed regularly with an ericaceous feed.
