Our first chance this week to see the various new outline layout plans for our ‘new look’ 2009 Mail Order Catalogue. In February we commissioned a Truro based image and brand designer with a proven track record in designing mail order and other catalogues for music, clothing and agricultural businesses. After a great deal of thought, research and planning over the last few months it was with some trepidation on both sides that the first mock-up designs were shown to us by Sam Hill.
You might well think it quite difficult to make a plant list of over 3,500 names, many of which are in Latin, in any way modern, visually exciting or even sexy without losing sight of what Burncoose is actually about. (An efficient, long established, family run garden and nursery business offering a huge range of choice ornamental trees and shrubs many of which are rare, unusual and little known introductions from overseas.) If you thought that, as many of us did, then you would be as wrong as we proved to be looking at Sam’s new ideas and designs.
Changing of the format of individual pages, clever use of colour to promote our most popular mail order plants and an altogether more visually attractive and ‘clean’ layout are already self evident.
There is much more work to do although the new front cover photograph of Abutilon vitafolium ‘Album’ seems to have more or less chosen itself.
Unfortunately you will all have to wait until December to see the end result. However if you would like to book your copy of our 2009 mail order catalogue and you are not already on our mailing list please do contact us.
A sneak preview of how the new layout will look will appear shortly.
