Deciduous - heart-shaped, mid-green leaves to 14cm (5½in) long.
Tall Shrub - upright, tree-like shrub Pendent yellow catkins 5-8cm (2-3in) long in late winter. Long, flat nuts, covered by tubular husks are borne in clusters of 2-5. Excellent flavour as a fresh nut.
