  • Pests & Diseases - red spider mites occasionally
  • Place of Origin - garden origin. UK. Alan Bloom, Bressingham Nurseries, Norfolk.
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
  • Height - in metres - 60-75cm (24-30in)
  • Spread - in metres - 8cm (3in)
  • Bulb/Corm - Bulb/Corm or rhizomatous perennial - clump-forming cormous perennial. Mid-green leaves. Flowers 5-8cm (2-3in) long, in 2 rows, are carried on freely-branching spikes.
  • Herbaceous - Early in the year, typically January till end of March, herbaceous plants might be supplied in 9cm pots to ensure timely despatch.
  • Full Sun
  • Partial Shade
  • Fertile moist well-drained soil - moderately fertile. Humus-rich.
