  • Pests & Diseases - red spider mites occasionally
  • Place of Origin - South Africa
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
  • Height - 1.2m (4ft)
  • Spread - 8cm (3in)
  • Bulb/Corm - Bulb/Corm or rhizomatous perennial - robust, clump-forming cormous perennial. Upward-facing flowers, 5cm (2in) long, from pleated, mid-green leaves 60-100cm (2-3ft) long
  • Herbaceous - Early in the year, typically January till end of March, herbaceous plants might be supplied in 9cm pots to ensure timely despatch.

  • Fertile moist well-drained soil - moderately fertile. Humus-rich.
