Beautiful rare semi-woody plant with racemes of waxen scarlet 'sweet pea' flowers

Deciduous - leathery leaves, including the prickly stalks, are 30cm (12in) or more long with 3 triangular leaflets to 10cm (4in) long.
Tall Shrub - in this country. Branches bear stout spines. Flowers, 5-6cm (2-2.5in) long are produced in terminal racemes 30-60cm (12-24in) long.

Hardiness Rating

Frost hardy to Frost tender - Plant can withstand temperatures to -5°C (23°F) but might only tolerate as low 5°C (41°F)
Will grow outside in milder locations - This could include plants which would survive happily in a greenhouse or conservatory if not in a mild location. If you have a sheltered spot in your garden then it may do well here. - use loam based compost if growing in conservatory or greenhouse - full light - plenty of air circulation
