 AWARD LAURUS nobilis

Poet's laurel, Sweet bay, True laurel

Densely branched conical tree or large shrub native to the Mediteranean region growing in moist rocky areas. Its aromatic leaves are used as a culinary herb.

In spring there are flower clusters in greenish yellow followed on female plants by black egg-shaped fruit.

Suitable for pots and topiary.

There is also a golden variety. Ultimate height 40feet by 30 feet but this can be kept well under control by pruning.

Tree - or large shrub. Produces flowers 5mm (¼in) across followed by black berries.
