Commonly known as Flowering currant
Genus of about 160 species of mainly deciduous, occasionally evergreen, sometimes spiny shrubs, widely distribited in woodland, scrub and rocky places in northern temperate regions with some from South America.
Edible species in this family include R. nigrum, blackcurrant, R. rubrum, redcurrant and R, uva-crispa, gooseberry.
