A Japanese species with flaking bark and small white camellia-like flowers

Burncoose Catalogue Code

Deciduous - oval to elliptic, finely-toothed, dark-green leaves, 10cm (4in) long, turn yellow to orange and red in autumn.
Tree - pink to red-brown and grey bark. Produces flowers 6cm (2½in) across with creamy yellow stamens, singly or in pairs along the shoots.
