Deciduous - stalkless, elliptic to broadly oval, abruptly pointed, mid-green leaves to 15cm (6in) long, heavily marked paler green.
Herbaceous - upright, clump forming, rhizomatous perennial. Produces flowers with lance-shaped to narrowly elliptic petals to 9cm (3.5in) long.
