Commonly known as Lesser periwinkle
All Flower MAR-SEPT
The habit of stems taking root where they touch the ground gives the periwinkle its ability to rapidly cover bare soil. In some cases it can be invasive but can provide spots of flower colour in most months of the year.
Genus of 5 species of slender-stemmed, evergreen subshrubs and herbaceous perennials from woodland in Europe, North Africa and Central Asia.
V. minor, lesser periwinkle, is probably native to southern England.
