Information

  • Pests & Diseases - crown gall, powdery mildew, leaf spot.
  • Place of Origin - eastern North America.
  • Hardy - very cold winter - Hardy in all of UK and northern Europe. Plant can possibly withstand temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F)
  • Height - in metres - 25m (80ft)
  • Spread - in metres - 15m (50ft)
  • Deciduous - pinnate, mid-green leaves 20-35cm (8-14in) long.
  • Tree - ornamental, peeling, grey to brown bark. Thick-shelled nuts to 6cm (2½in) long are edible when ripe.
  • Full Sun
  • Partial Shade
  • Fertile moist well-drained soil - requires deep, humus-rich soil.
  • Broadly conical
