  • Butterfly Friendly
  • Good to know - makes a good container plant. Vanillin is the chocolatey scent.
  • Pests & Diseases - aphids, slugs, grey mould.
  • Place of Origin - Mexico. Thought to be extinct in the wild. Survives as a single clone propagated vegetatively.
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
  • Height - 75cm (30in)
  • Spread - 45cm (18in)
  • Herbaceous - Early in the year, typically January till end of March, herbaceous plants might be supplied in 9cm pots to ensure timely despatch. - tuberous perennial. Shallowly cup-shaped flowers, 4.5cm (1¾in) across with a velvet texture.
