Herbaceous - marginal aquatic perennial. Rosettes of oval, strongly-veined, leathery, glossy, mid- to dark-green leaves 50-100cm (20-39in) long. Produces broadly lance-shaped, pointed spathes to 40cm (16in) long.. Dies down in winter.
