This news article is from our news archive, details may be out of date - thank you.

Magnolia CampbelliiCharles Williams was interviewed on Thursday 14th February 2019 by ITV to comment on the official arrival of spring in Cornwall.  This is traditionally marked by the Great Gardens of Cornwall having 50 or more blooms out on a Magnolia campbellii. It is officially spring when the last Great Garden has 50 blooms on their tree.  Cornwall had been waiting for Trewithen and Heligan this year and the final flowers came on Valentine's Day.

This year the dates were as follows:-

Trewidden Gardens - 1 February

Trebah Garden - 3 February

Caerhays Castle Gardens - 7 February

Tregothnan Garden - 13 February

Trewithen Garden - 14 February

The Lost Gardens of Heligan - 14 February
