The partners of Burncoose Nurseries have taken the decision not to attend the Chelsea Flower Show in May 2021 even if it does go ahead as the RHS continue to publicise that it will. While this is a decision which we have taken with considerable regret a third national lockdown now looks grimly inevitable and the furlough scheme has been extended to the end of April which anticipates the likelihood of this until the new vaccines are available to everyone.
Chelsea exhibitors have not yet been invited by the RHS to apply for space. This would normally occur in August. A large Chelsea stand takes many months of planning and preparing plants for the show and the costs are considerable. We cannot take the risk of another Chelsea cancellation.
We anticipate the coming spring as being just as busy for our mail order business as it was in the first lockdown from March 2020. The priority therefore has to be to put all our energy and effort into delivering your internet orders as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Hopefully we will be able to exhibit at Chelsea again in 2022 when normality returns.
In the hope of a happier New Year for everyone!
However Christine is here in the show tunnel in May 2021, taking us around some interesting plants which we would have featured on our stand.
We were delighted our Viburnum plicatum 'Kilimanjaro Sunrise' won the People's Choice in the RHS Plant of the Decade competion read more about it here.
