The National Collection of Magnolias at Caerhays

Lecture by Charles Williams at Caerhays Castle
Charles Williams (owner) will give the lecture and conduct the garden tour. The lecture will concentrate on the origins and history of the introduction of Asiatic magnolias into the garden and on the breeding programme at Caerhays since the 1930s. Attendees will see the latest magnolia hybrids registered and bred at Caerhays including the new Magnolia ‘Caerhays Splendour’, M. ‘Tropicana’ and M. ‘Bishop Michael’. They will also see some of the best known earlier magnolia hybrids – M. ‘Caerhays Surprise’, M. ‘Caerhays Belle’ and M. ‘JC Williams’.
Please contact us in advance to discuss access requirements. Suitable for complete beginners, ideal for all with no prior experience necessary, all garden lovers would benefit from this interesting lecture.
You will need to bring wet weather clothing and boots just in case.
