Lemon scented thyme
There are numerous species and varieties of thyme but, unfortunately, we currently stock only one. It is however an evergreen culinary herb for the herb garden or, as a small, flowering, shrubby plant which grows only about a foot, as an edging plant in a rock garden or smaller growing herbaceous border.
Like many culinary herbs it is best to cut them back nearly to ground level after flowering has finished to rejuvenate a second set of growth in late summer. ‘Silver Queen’ has attractive cream variegated leaves and pale lavender pink flowers with leaf-like bracts in irregular oblong heads in summer.
This plant prefers full sun in a well-drained soil which does not get waterlogged.
