Globeflower
Trollius are a genus of clump forming herbaceous perennials with buttercup-like flowers. They are perfectly hardy plants which enjoy fertile soil which does not dry out in summer and will tolerate partial shade just as well as full sun.
The flower stems need to be cut back hard after the first flush of flowering in midsummer to encourage more flower production perhaps with an additional liquid feed. Clumps can readily be divided when dormant or just as the new growth appears in spring.
T. chinensis ‘Golden Dawn’ grows up to 3ft in height with deep orange-yellow buttercup flowers.
T. x cultorum ‘New Moon’ is smaller growing with a profusion of delicate pale-yellow flowers.
