These are unusual evergreen trees and shrubs which we import and grow on direct from New Zealand. They have remarkable ornamental leaves with very variable flowers. Some are lance or sword shaped leaves while others have a very different leaf form with huge 3 or 5 fingered leaflets. They are all perfectly happy in coastal and milder parts of the county and, if given good wind protection, they can be equally hardy elsewhere. Pseudopanax will survive temperatures of -5°C and are now being widely used as ornamental flowering plants in city patios, parks and gardens.
