Landscaping a Riding Stables near Pangbourne

The owners of this commercial riding stables also owned around 30 acres of adjacent virgin woodland. Their vision, when they employed Burncoose Nurseries was to create a woodland garden amid the woodland. Again their inspiration came initially from the Burncoose stands at the Chelsea Flower Show. The owners began a major programme of scrub clearance in 2008/9 making room for large scale camellia and rhododendron plantings in the spring of 2009. In 2010 another wood was cleared and thinned to make way for a hydrangea garden through a new avenue of liriodendron (tulip) trees. Again this is a long-term project which will take years to mature to is full effect. These pictures show just the start.
