Commonly known as Glory flower

Rosy-red scented flowers and attractive mottled bark. Likely to sucker abundantly.

  • Deciduous - oval, toothed, dark-green leaves to 20cm (8in) long, tinted purple when young.
  • Red - rosy red
  • Height - 2m (6½ft)
  • Spread - 2m (6½ft)
  • Medium shrub - Typically grow to around 4-6 feet in height - upright, suckering shrub. Flowers with 5 spreading lobes in terminal panicles 12-15cm (5-6in) across.
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)

  • Pests & Diseases - under glass - mealybugs, red spider mites, whiteflies.
