  • Evergreen - or semi evergreen. Oval to lance-shaped, finely-toothed, sage-green aromatic leaves 20cm (8in) long.
  • Orange - scarlet orange
  • Height - 2.5m (8ft)
  • Spread - 2.5m (8ft)
  • Tall Shrub - upright shrub. Whorls of flowers to 2.5cm (1in) long are produced in terminal spikes.
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)

  • Place of origin - western China, Himalayas. Named in for Sir Robert Colquhoun, soldier and plant collector.

    Pruning: Hard prune to a low permanent framework.
