  • Deciduous - ovate leaves, dark green above and glaucous beneath to 10cm (4in) long.
  • Yellow
  • Height - 2m (6½ft)
  • Spread - 3m (10ft)
  • Medium shrub - Typically grow to around 4-6 feet in height - open, spreading shrub. Flowers have red to purple anthers. Slender racemes to 15cm (6in) long.
  • Hardy - cold winter - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
  • Partial shade
  • Additional Features - Good to know - introduced into UK by Robert Fortune in 1860. Produces flowers before the leaf buds are fully open.
