CRINUM x powellii

Commonly known as Cape lily, Indian elephant flower

Semi-evergreen, lily-like with large pink flowers on tall stems

  • Deciduous - arching, mid-green leaves to 1.5m (5ft).
  • Shades of pink - All shades of pink through to Carmine (red)
  • Height - 1.5m (5ft)
  • Spread - 30-35cm (12-14in)
  • Bulb/Corm or rhizomatous perennial - bulbous perennial. Umbels of up to 10 widely-flared flowers to 10cm (4in) long.
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
