  • Evergreen - wavy-margined, sometimes toothed leaves to 18cm (7in) long.
  • Orange - orange red
  • Striped, Veined or Multicoloured - yellow veins
  • Height - 3-10m (10-33ft)
  • Spread - 2-3m (6½-10ft)
  • Tall Shrub - open shrub or tree.
  • Tender - cool or frost free greenhouse - Tolerant of low temperatures, but not surviving being frozen. Except in frost-free inner-city areas or coastal extremities requires glasshouse conditions. Plant can withstand temperatures down to 1°C (34°F)
  • Full sun
  • Caution, toxic if eaten - Do not eat these plants. - highly toxic if ingested
  • Additional Features - Good to know - - Brugmansia sanguinea
  • Pests & Diseases - red spider mite, mealybug, whitefly - more usually under glass.
  • Place of origin - Colombia to northern Chile.
  • Flower Shape - Tubular - - flowers 15-25cm (6-10in) long
  • Hardiness - Half hardy (down to 0) -
  • Pruning group - Pruning group 4
    Suitable for: Deciduous trees and shrubs that flower on current year's growth or are grown for winter stem effect.
    Pruning: Hard prune to a low permanent framework.
    When: Annually in early Spring.

  • Pruning group 6 - Suitable for: Evergreen shrubs or climbers that need little to no pruning.
    Action: Trim back shoots that spoil symmetry and to fit available space.
    When: Annually after flowering if on previous year's growth, or in later Winter or Spring if flowering on current year's growth, or as requires.
