    Upright, sparsely-branched shrub with stout, hairless shoots. Produces fruit in cylindrical pods to 10cm (4in) long in autumn.

    Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)

    Collected by French missionary Père Paul Guillaume Farges in 1891. Named after Joseph Decaisne, Belgian botanist (1807-1882).
