Commonly known as Korean fir
A small slow growing compact tree with white undersides to the leaves and violet-purple upright cylindrical cones
Evergreen - shiny, dark-green leaves 1-2cm (½ to ¾in) long.
Height - 10m (33ft)
Spread - 6m (20ft)
Conifer - female cones are cylindrical, violet-blue, 5-7cm (2-3in) long.
Very hardy - Hardy in the severest continental climates including exposed upland locations in the UK. Plant can withstand temperatures < -20 (-4°F)
Additional Features - Endangered in the wild - These plants are listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's list of 'Red Plants'. This is a list of threatened species in the wild, they are either critically, endangered or vulnerable to extinction. - Endangered
Good to know - the erect, purple cones resemble candles when resin runs. Good for a small garden as produces cones while young
