  • Deciduous - leathery leaves, including the prickly stalks, are 30cm (12in) or more long with 3 triangular leaflets to 10cm (4in) long.
  • Red - scarlett
  • Height - 1.5-2.5m (5-8ft)
  • Spread - 1.5m (5ft)
  • Tall Shrub - in this country. Branches bear stout spines. Flowers, 5-6cm (2-2½in) long are produced in terminal racemes 30-60cm (12-24in) long.
  • Half hardy - unheated greenhouse / mild winter - Hardy in coastal and relatively mild parts of the UK except in severe winters and a risk from sudden (early) frosts.
