  • Evergreen - perennial. Leaves broader than E. amygdaloides, leathery and glossy.
  • Green

  • Spread - 30cm (12in)
  • Dwarf shrub - Typically only grows to a maximum of one or two feet in height but there will be some exceptions.
  • Ground cover - These plants are typically low growing and spread quickly to inhibit weed growth on areas of bare soil - spreads widely by rhizomes. Can become invasive. Flowers in terminal cymes to 18cm (7in) tall.
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
  • Partial shade - or light dappled shade - will tolerate full sun if soil is permanently moist.
