    • Good to know
      The native beech (southeastern England). Good for hedging or pleaching. Regular trimming will maintain autumn leaves all winter.

      aphids, bark scales, powdery mildew, beech bark disease, fungi.

      Central Europe to Caucasus
    • Deciduous
      Oval-elliptic, wavy-margined leaves to 10cm (4in) long. They are silky-haired at first, turning glossy, dark green and to yellow to orange-brown in autumn
