GERANIUM macrorrhizum 'Ingwersen's Variety'

Commonly known as Balkan cranesbill


 

  • Semi-evergreen - Keeps some of its foliage all year, and will drop some leaves as well. - 7-lobed, toothed, sticky basal leaves 10-20cm (4-8in) long
  • Shades of pink - All shades of pink through to Carmine (red) - lilac pink
  • Height - 50cm (20in)
  • Spread - 60cm (24in)
  • Bulb/Corm or rhizomatous perennial - rhizomatous perennial. Clusters of erect, flat flowers to 2.5cm (1in) across with slightly reflexed petals and prominent stamens. Leaves colour well in autumn
  • Ground cover - These plants are typically low growing and spread quickly to inhibit weed growth on areas of bare soil
  • Herbaceous - Early in the year, typically January till end of March, herbaceous plants might be supplied in 9cm pots to ensure timely despatch.
  • Very hardy - Hardy in the severest continental climates including exposed upland locations in the UK. Plant can withstand temperatures < -20 (-4°F)
