Deciduous - dense clumps of broadly triangular, pinnate, bright-green sterile fronds 1m (3ft) or more long. Partially fertile fronds to 2m (6ft) long, with tassell-like tips appear in summer.
Height - 2m (6½ft)
Spread - 4m (13ft)
Hardy - very cold winter - Hardy in all of UK and northern Europe. Plant can possibly withstand temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F)
Partial shade - or light dappled
Additional Features - Good to know - - a native fern. The fibrous rootstock is used as potting medium for orchids (osmunda)
