  • Semi-evergreen - Keeps some of its foliage all year, and will drop some leaves as well. - rounded leaves composed of 5 leaflets to 9cm (3½in) long
  • Purple - Shades of purple/mauve/lilac/violet - brownish purple
  • Height - 6m (20ft)
  • Climber - Some of these climbing plants will need trellis or wire supports if grown on walls or fences. Other grow aerial roots and are self-clinging - twining climber. Flowers are followed by sausage-shaped, reddish purple fruits
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
