Commonly known as Chocolate vine
DeciduousLeaves to 10cm (4in) long composed of 3 broadly ovate, shallowly-lobed leaflets.
PurpleShades of purple/mauve/lilac/violet
ClimberSome of these climbing plants will need trellis or wire supports if grown on walls or fences. Other grow aerial roots and are self-clingingTwining climber. Flowers are followed by sausage-shaped fruit to 12cm (5in) long.
Hardy - cold winterHardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
