    Good to know
    After flowering the flower stalks swell, becoming red, fleshy, sweet and edible.
    Medicinal properties
    Source of quercetin, an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, used in the repair of liver damage from alcohol.

    Coral spot if wood is not ripened fully.

    Eastern and southeastern Asia.
