  • Spread - 10m (30ft)
  • Deciduous - dark-green leaves to 10cm (4in) long, grey-white and hairy beneath.
  • Tree - yellow-brown male catkins 10cm (4in) long in groups of 3 or 4 are produced in winter and early spring before the leaves followed, in summer, by fruit 1.5cm (½in) long.
  • Hardy - very cold winter - Hardy in all of UK and northern Europe. Plant can possibly withstand temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F)
  • Fertile well drained soil
