ABUTILON
Commonly known as Chinese lantern, Flowering maple, Parlour maple
Genus of about 150 species, deciduous and evergreen, in the form of shrubs, small trees, perennials and annuals.
Hailing from tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia, Australia, North and South America the frost prone species are suitable as conservatory or house plants. Half hardy species do well in a sunny border and those of arching habit against a warm wall.
The various attributes to maple arise from the shape of the leaves.
