  • Evergreen - oblong to elliptic, dark-green leaves to 6cm (2½in) long in opposite pairs or whorls.
  • Red - rosy red
  • Height - 60cm (24in)
  • Spread - 1.5m (5ft)
  • Dwarf shrub - Typically only grows to a maximum of one or two feet in height but there will be some exceptions. - mound-forming shrub. Flowers to 1cm (½in) across in clusters 5cm (2in) across.
  • Hardy - cold winter - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
  • Partial shade
  • Harmful if eaten - These will give you an upset tummy, so please don't eat any of these.
  • Additional Features - Pests & Diseases - none.
  • Place of origin - eastern North America.
  • Resistant to honey fungus - These plants have little or few problems with honey fungus.

  • Fertile moist well-drained soil - humus rich. Mulch annually with leaf mould in spring.
