  • Good to know - often confused with A. lamarckii. Leaves are hairless when young.

  • Deciduous - leaves 4-6cm (1½-2½in) long emerge bronze, turn green in summer and to red or orange in autumn.
  • Tree - shrubby. Produces flowers in pendent racemes 4-12cm (1½-5in) long, followed by sweet, blue-black fruit.
  • Hardy - very cold winter - Hardy in all of UK and northern Europe. Plant can possibly withstand temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F)
