Commonly known as Chinese Virginia creeper

Dark green foliage veined silver, turning red in autumn

  • Deciduous - leaves of 5 leaflets to 12cm (5in) long.
  • Height - 10m (33ft)
  • Spread - 6m (20ft)
  • Climber - Some of these climbing plants will need trellis or wire supports if grown on walls or fences. Other grow aerial roots and are self-clinging - lightly self-clinging climber.
  • Hardy - cold winter - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
  • Full sun
  • Partial shade - colours best in partial shade as veins fade in sunlight.
  • Harmful if eaten - These will give you an upset tummy, so please don't eat any of these. - berries can cause mild stomach upset.
