  • Evergreen - paired, well-spaced, stout, stiff grey-green leaves are carried in pairs and are 10-25cm (4-10in) long
  • Height - 20m (65ft)
  • Spread - 6-8m(20-26ft)
  • Conifer - long-ovoid, green female cones, 8-22cm (3-9in) long, ripen to chestnut-brown
  • Tree - deeply fissured, orange-brown to purple bark, brown shoots and spindle-shaped buds with reflexed scales
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
