    Spreading tree or shrub with peeling, aromatic grey bark. Bell-shaped flowers, each with 5 lobes divided almost to the base, are produced in pendent panicles to 20cm (8in) long followed by ribbed fruit covered in yellow-brown bristles.

    Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
