Stout shoots and very broad, large, ovate leaves. Rare and fairly slow growing.

  • Deciduous - broad, round-lobed leaves to 25cm (10in) or more turn a russet-red in autumn and most remain through winter.
  • Height - 8m (26ft)

  • Tree - slow-growing, stoutly-branched tree. Ovoid to almost spherical acorns.
  • Hardy - cold winter - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
