Silver grey catkins appear from small golden buds before the leaves

  • Deciduous - oblobg to oval-lance-shaped, grey-green leaves 1-3.5cm (½ to 1½in) long, smooth above, silver-downy beneath.
  • Height - 60cm (24in)
  • Spread - 40cm (16in)
  • Dwarf shrub - Typically only grows to a maximum of one or two feet in height but there will be some exceptions. - upright, many-branched shrub. Catkins to 5cm (2in) long appear before the leaves.
  • Very hardy - Hardy in the severest continental climates including exposed upland locations in the UK. Plant can withstand temperatures < -20 (-4°F)
  • Full sun
  • Additional Features - Good to know - - can be pruned in winter to maintain a ground-hugging shape.
  • Pests & Diseases - aphids, caterpillars, leaf beetles, sawflies, willow scale, anthracnose, honey fungus, rust.
