  • Evergreen - ovate to lance-shaped, often wavy-margined, smooth, mid- to deep-green leaves 6-10cm (2½in) long
  • Blue - blue purple
  • Height - 2m (6½ft)
  • Spread - 2m (6½ft)
  • Medium shrub - Typically grow to around 4-6 feet in height - lax shrub, usually many-branched when mature. Produces axillary clusters to 6cm (2½in) across of 2-5 shallowly trumpet-shaped, flowers1-2.5cm (½-1in) across followed by ovoid red fruit 2.5cm (1in) long.
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)

  • Caution, toxic if eaten - Do not eat these plants.

    Suitable for: Wall trained shrubs and less vigorous climbers.
    Action: For climbers 'spur prune' by cutting back 3-4 buds of the permanent framework. For wall trained shrubs cut back flowered shoots to within 2-4 buds of permanent framework.
    When: Annually after flowers if on previous year's growth, or in late Winter or Spring if on current year's growth.
