Commonly known as Upright stewartia

Shallowly furrowed bark which peels in maturity. Flowers camellia pink at first fading later to near white on the tips of individual twigs

  • Deciduous - finely-toothed dark-green leaves turn orange-red in autumn.
  • Shades of pink - All shades of pink through to Carmine (red) - pink fading to white
  • Height - 4m-8m (13ft-26ft)
  • Spread - 2-2.5m (6½-8ft)
  • Tree - upright, shrubby tree. Produces flowers to 5cm (2in) across.
  • Hardy - cold winter - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
