My Burncoose




6th January 2021. In line with the current government lockdown rules, Burncoose Nurseries is closed to visitors. However at present we are able to offer click and collect to local customers. This will be weekdays only, not weekends. Mail order is continuing as normal. However please allow extra time for the couriers to deliver, once despatched from us. Sorry to say that some depots are experiencing high volumes of traffic, also staff shortages.

  • Evergreen - oval, glossy, dark green leaves to 10cm (4in) long, turning bronze-red in winter
  • White
  • Height - 9m (30ft)
  • Climber - Some of these climbing plants will need trellis or wire supports if grown on walls or fences. Other grow aerial roots and are self-clinging - woody, twining climber. Produces pure white flowers to 2.5cm (1in) across with twisted lobes.
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)

These plants need to be grown in a conservatory or cool greenhouse or at least brought inside for the winter - in areas with severe frosts. Use loam-based compost (JI No.3) in full light with shade from hot sun
