TRIPTERYGIUM regelii

Deciduous, vigorous climbing plant extending up to 15ft. Small greenish white flowers in brown pubescent panicles

  • Deciduous - ovate to elliptic, slender-pointed, toothed, bright green leaves 8-13cm (3-5in) long

  • Climber - Some of these climbing plants will need trellis or wire supports if grown on walls or fences. Other grow aerial roots and are self-clinging - bushy, twining climber, often loosely shrubby when young. Produces small flowers in leafy panicles to 25cm (10in) long followed by 3-winged pale green to light brown fruit 1.5-2cm (½-¾in) long
  • Half hardy - unheated greenhouse / mild winter - Hardy in coastal and relatively mild parts of the UK except in severe winters and a risk from sudden (early) frosts. May be hardy elsewhere with wall shelter or good micro-climate. Likely to be damaged or killed in cold winters. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -5°C (23°F)
