  • Evergreen - glossy, dark-green leaves to 3.5cm (1½in) long.
  • White
  • Height - 1.5m (5ft)
  • Spread - 1m (39in)
  • Medium shrub - Typically grow to around 4-6 feet in height - upright shrub. Nodding flowers to 1cm (½in) across, sometimes tinged pink, are produced singly from the leaf axils, followed by aromatic berries 1cm (½in) across.
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
  • Full sun - shelter from colds winds in frosty areas.
  • Partial shade
  • Additional Features - Berries - These plants have berries.
  • Good to know - introduced into England by William Lobb in 1844. Became the favourite fruit of Queen Victoria. Attractive to insects. Exceptionally can grow to 3m (10ft)
